SOFTWARE - Customer or Salesperson Use
When you configure the Palm Pilot, you can tailor it to fit each of your customer's particular needs. You can provide a Palm Pilot directly to your customer and let them perform their own Inventory tracking and ordering.

If you prefer, you can provide the Palm Pilots to your Salespeople, and they can use them as a tool to track Inventory at multiple customer locations. At the end of each day, the Salesperson would simply eMail or bring the Customer Orders to your main office where they would be uploaded to your system.

Create Orders Two Different Ways
The unit will track by Minimum/Maximum or on an Order as Used basis. The initial setup requires only a few button clicks and will only take a matter of minutes to perform. This operation is performed only one time.

Minimum/Maximum
The user will have a Symbol Palm Pilot with Integrated Bar Code Scanner that will be loaded with Part Numbers, Locations, Description, Package Quantities, Prices, and the Minimum and Maximum for each Part. If the unit is set up for Salesperson use, it will also have a list of that Salesperson's Customers.

Bin or Location Marking
The customer will have a bar code label on each of their bins or inventory locations. The Bar Code Label will have the Part Number and Inventory Location. (This Part Number can be your Part Number or their Own Part Number - Either will work). No actual Inventory Levels will be kept on the Hand Held Device.

Periodic Inventory Taking
Once a week, or whatever reorder period is required, your Customer or your Salesperson will scan the Bin Label and enter the quantity of the Parts that are currently in the Bin. The System will compare that quantity against the Minimum. If the Part is below the Minimum, the System will generate an Order Line with the appropriate quantity to bring it back to the Maximum.

For loose Parts, the Package Quantity is used as the Reorder Quantity and the system automatically generates an order for the quantity required to fill each bin that is scanned.

Order as Used Customer
The second alternative is to set the Palm Pilot up to Order as Used. In this mode, the Palm Pilot is used to scan the label as each box is opened. If you are not using locations and the same part number is scanned more than once, it increments the Order Quantity. If you have included the location in your database, it will create a new line for the Order. If your Salesperson is using the Palm Pilot, the Salesperson would scan the label and enter the desired quantity to add to the order. The entered quantity would be added to the order.

Order Submission
Upload of the Orders can be accomplished by a direct connection to a PC on the Network, with a Modem attached to the Palm Pilot or by eMail from a Remote PC.

Print Order Receipt
The uploaded Orders can be automatically processed directly into The BUSINESS EDGE System. The BUSINESS EDGE System will print an Order for the Customer's Records. This Order Acknowledgement can be faxed to the Customer.
